Blackpool's buses and trams to continue running through new lockdown restrictions

Blackpool Transport, the operator of buses and trams in the resort, have committed to running a frequent service of buses and trams so residents can continue to safely make essential journeys.

There will be some minor changes to the frequency of some routes, mostly in ‘off peak’ periods such as evenings and weekends where less customers will be travelling. Customers will notice ‘little difference’ to their services says the operator.

Tram services between Starr Gate and Fleetwood will run every 20 minutes in the daytime and every 30 minutes in the evening with the last tram being at 10.15pm from Starr Gate.

Bus services are mostly unchanged Monday to Friday so that school and college students as well as essential workers can continue travelling safely.

Jane Cole, Managing Director at Blackpool Transport said “We’re committed to ensuring that residents in our town can travel with us safely and when they need to. We’re working carefully to protect the safety of our staff whilst providing a safe, comfortable experience for those still travelling with us.”

Blackpool Transport have implemented a range of safety measures to protect customers using public transport and are reminding residents about the importance of wearing a face covering when using public transport.

Chris Davies, head of safety at Blackpool Transport said: “Wearing a face covering unless you are exempt helps to keep you and everybody else safe onboard and we’re asking all customers to wear one where they can.

“Our buses and trams are as safe and clean as they can be. We have enhanced cleaning processes in place, including recently, the introduction of a fogging machine using a product which kills 99.9% of known viruses.”

Minor changes to Blackpool Transport’s services will take place on Sunday, November 8, with no further changes planned unless circumstances change.
