5-year-old girl hit in road traffic accident on Luton Road in Anchorsholme

A five-year-old girl has been taken to Alder Hey hospital after being hit by a van in Anchorsholme.

Eight police vehicles and an ambulance van attended the scene on Luton Road where the accident happened.

An air ambulance also landed on nearby East Pines Park, on Eastpines Drive.

The girl was taken to Alder Hey hospital but remained conscious, a police official said.

The police could not confirm the girl's injuries.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called to Luton Road at 5.21pm after a van had hit a five-year-old girl.

"The driver remained at the scene and no arrests were made.

"Eight police vehicles attended and the road remains closed while investigations are underway."

It has not been confirmed whether the girl was taken to Alder Hey by Air Ambulance.
