Traffic chaos after M55 crash

All three M55 lanes were blocked for a time westbound after the incident at around 6pm.

A damaged black car was believed to be blocking the fast lane of the carriageway near the Kirkham turn off.

Rush hour traffic built up in the area as emergency services were despatched to the scene.

It was thought that two vehicles were involved in the collision near Kirkham.

All lanes were later reopened

Meanwhile one lane was blocked near Preston because of ladders in the road.

The M6 was also partially blocked northbound near Broughton because of debris in the road.
