VIDEO: Military blow up Second World War bomb found at Thornton house

A bomb dating back to the Second World War has tonight been blown up by military experts.

In a statement, Lancashire Police said officers were called to a house in Thornton earlier this evening, sparking a call to the bomb squad.

"Military bomb disposal experts decided it posed a potential threat and carried out a controlled explosion at 9.30pm, at Stannah Park on the mud flats," a spokesman said.

"This neutralised the threat."
