Suicidal man's 999 call sparks call out
A despondent man told emergency call handlers he planned to walk into the sea off Blackpool this morning, the Coastguard said.
His call to 999, at around 3.40am, saw Blackpool's two lifeboats launch from the RNLI station to search for him alongside Coastguard staff.
They were stood down after around an hour of scouring between Central and South piers after police found the man further inland, a spokesman said.

He was detained by officers before any boats launched however.
