The Audi A4 crossed the central reservation in Preston New Road, Marton, while travelling towards the resort, and hit the fencing, close to The Harbour psychiatric unit, at around 6.10pm yesterday.

He was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

The busy road, which runs off the M55, was closed for around two hours while investigation work was carried out.
