The team looking to transform a disused building into a new centre for young carers is still in need of traders to volunteer their skills.

DIY SOS: The Big Build for BBC Children in Need is currently gearing up to start work on the site in Newton Drive which will be handed over to Blackpool Carers once it is completed.

The show has been inundated with responses from kind local tradespeople volunteering their time and resources but they still urgently need help.

Among those working on the project is interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen who has helped transform Blackpool’s Illuminations in recent years.

The screening of the programme is expected to coincide with the BBCs annual Children in Need appeal in November.

Last week the DIY SOS team hosted a trades day at the site with dozens of local businesses volunteering their time, skills and the materials required.
