Michelle Holden is to leave St Bernadette’s RC Primary in Bispham to take the headteacher post at Holy Family Primary School in Warton.

Mrs Holden said is was a difficult decision.

She said: “I am taking the headship of the school in the village where I live and the school where I was a child in the 1970s. I also started my teaching career there, as a volunteer before working my way up to deputy head, so it means a lot to me to be going back.

"It is like returning home in every sense and I will be going to a school which has always been very much part of my life.”

But she said she would miss the staff, children and community at St Bernadette’s.

“I have loved working at St Bernadette’s, it is a fantastic school with amazing children and families. The huge commitment and dedication of the staff here is outstanding.

"The children leave here having done the best they can and that is down to the staff team. Visitors always comment within minutes of coming here on the wonderful learning environment.”
