Top award for floral champions townsfolk

The green-fingered
enthusiasts of Lytham have more blooming cause for celebration.

Lytham In Bloom, which clinched the ultimate town prize in the country last year as Royal Horticultural Society Champion of Champions, has been awarded silver gilt for a display at the RHS Show at Tatton Park, Cheshire.

“It’s the first time we had entered a show and to earn silver gilt on our
debut is wonderful,” said In Bloom committee chairman Jim Leak.

The display is based on the image of shrimper Russell Wignall which was a key feature in Lytham’s Market Place when the Champion of Champion judges came to town.

“One of the judges said the display would be an
ideal entry for Tatton and we took it from there,” added Jim.
