The council has said it would make a decision on the firm’s applications at Preston New Road, Weeton, and Roseacre Wood by the end of the month - and yesterday was the deadline date for comments.

Around 5,700 people have signed online campaign website 38 Degrees’ petition against fracking and shale gas extraction in Lancashire and the Fylde.

Marjorie Nye attended County Hall in Preston to hand over the signatures.

She said: “38 degrees is the tipping point of an avalanche to start, so with this last tranche of signatures we hope we will tip the balance for LCC to refuse the applications to frack in Roseacre and Little Plumpton.”
