This week's '˜project update' focuses on potential investment on Blackpool Prom

Blackpool-based DY Property Services wants to develop the site with two bars and restaurants on the ground floor, and 15 flats on the upper floors.
The committee is being recommended to approve the application when it meets on Tuesday.

The land was formerly largely occupied by the Tudor Rose Hotel which was demolished after a previous planning application for the site was approved in 2013.
Since then the site has been vacant although in 2015 an illegal funfair opened on it for a short time.

The applicant is proposing each flat would have two bedrooms with one en-suite, a combined lounge and kitchen, and a balcony with a se a view.
There would be two restaurants at ground floor level (one either side of thecentral access), each with its own independent access. The open forecourt would be reconfigured and used for restaurant outdoor seating. Parking for 16 cars, a cycle store and refuse store would be provided to the rear.

Objections have been received including from representatives of two nearby pubs, Yates’ and the Dutton Arms, who fear future residents could complain about noise and that could lead to restrictions on their licences.
But planning officers are recommending approval of the scheme.
They say in their report: “Although the scheme cannot be considered to be part of a cohesive regeneration scheme, the improvement of the site would support the on-going environmental improvements on the Promenade and may encourage further investment in the area.”
