Third pub drops bid to show Vegas fight
An application for a one-off late licence between midnight and 10am this Sunday to show the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor had been submitted to Blackpool Council on behalf of the Highfield Pub on Highfield Road.
But police and council environmental protection officers objected to the application.

Environmental health officers were concerned about the impact on nearby residents.
The Highfield is the third pub in Blackpool to withdraw its application for a temporary event notice to show the fight, which is being televised live from Las Vegas, following objections from the police.
Yates’s and Walkabout, both in the town centre, had also applied for late licences but then had second thoughts.
Police chiefs had said allowing people to drink until the early hours of the morning would increase the risk of anti-social behaviour during the busy bank holiday weekend.
