Violence erupted on the streets of Southport on July 30, 2024 - a day after the tragic murder of seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar, and six-year-old Bebe King during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in the Merseyside town.
The attacker, Axel Rudakubana, was later sentenced to a minimum of 52 years in prison.
The unrest began after false information spread online, falsely claiming the attacker was a Muslim asylum seeker.
The disorder quickly escalated and spread across England and Northern Ireland, including riots in towns and cities such as Blackpool.
The violence, which lasted just over a week, ended following dozens of large counter-demonstrations nationwide.
This wave of riots was the most severe the UK has seen since the 2011 disturbances, which involved widespread looting, arson and resulted in five deaths.

19. Tommy Callaghan
Tommy Callaghan, 32, of Platt Bridge, Wigan, joined in racist chanting and threw items at police during the Southport unrest. He was sentenced to two years and two months. | Merseyside Police
20. Rory Allington-Mott
Rory Allington-Mott, 34, of High Street, Newport, took part in violent disorder in Southport on July 30. Footage showed him throwing bricks and other items at officers. He was jailed for three years and three months. | Merseyside Police
21. Paul Dryhurst
Paul Dryhurst, 33, of Gale Road, Litherland, hurled a missile at officers during the Southport disorder. He was recognised by a former schoolmate now serving in the police and sentenced to two years. | Merseyside Police
22. Gareth Metcalfe
Gareth Metcalfe, 44, of Cambridge Gardens, Southport, was seen in social media footage taking part in the Southport riot. He was arrested within days and sentenced to three years and four months. | Merseyside Police
23. Philip Prescott
Philip Prescott, 38, of Sefton Street, Southport, was part of a crowd at Sussex Road and Zetland Street during the Southport riot. He threw missiles at police, including a brick from a garden wall. Arrested six days later, he was jailed for two years and four months. | Merseyside Police
24. David Frank Hill
David Frank Hill, 38, of Bianca Street, Bootle, was involved in the Liverpool city centre riots on August 3. CCTV showed him damaging a police car on William Brown Street. He was jailed for two years. | Merseyside Police
