Dave Cryer, of St Michaels on Wyre, has enlisted the help of Joe-Warren Plant, of Poulton, who plays Jacob Gallagher in the ITV soap, as he cycles from Scarborough to Blackpool Tower in aid of Brian House.

As the group of seven stop off at Guy’s Thatched Hamlet, in Bilsborrow, for a fun day on Sunday, September 10, several other cast members as well as Charlie Cairoli, the son of Blackpool’s famous clown of the same name, and paralympian Isaac Towers, will join in for the last leg.

Dave, 51, said: “I am a member of the Freemasons and we do a lot of fund-raising for various charities.

“I am part of the Emblem Lodge in Blackpool which has already donated £1,000 to Brian House, which is linked with Trinity Hospice. I have visited the children’s hospice and seeing the youngsters receiving end of life care really has an impact on you.

“So I got some of my mates together and came up with this challenge. I am good friends with Joe-Warren Plant’s dad, Warren, and Joe does quite a bit of charity work so he is happy to join us, as long as his filming schedule allows it.

“I only started cycling again properly earlier this year in Tenerife, so it will be a bit of a challenge.
