South Shore fire believed to have started from electric fuse box

A house fire in Blackpool is believed to have started due to an electric fuse box.

Firefighters from the South Shore and St Annes stations were called to reports of the electrical fire at a house on Prestbury Avenue, South Shore at around 7pm on Wednesday.

When the crews arrived they found the fire involved an ‘electrical consumer unit’ at the property.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used one hose reel and a dry powder extinguisher to extinguish the fire.

“Support was provided by gas and electrical utility companies. The fire crews were in attendance for approximately 90 minutes.”

The spokesman added that no casualties were reported from the incident.
