For the third year, The Gazette has teamed up with the Swallowdale Children’s Trust in a bid to help deserving young people. During the evening, 36 groups and individuals - who had been nominated through The Gazette - received cash grants kindly given by Swallowdale.

The Trust handed out an incredible £25,000 to needy individuals and youth groups in 2013 and another £10,000 was given last year.

Nigel Law, chairman of the Swallowdale Children’s Trust, said: “On behalf of the trustees at the Swallowdale Children’s Trust, I would like to thank The Gazette for working with us for the past three years and especially at the presentation awards on Thursday.

“It was a joyful and uplifting event which brought happiness to lots of young people and voluntary groups across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. We would welcome further applications to the trust all year round and these applications can be made through our website or on our Facebook page.”
