Six fire engines tackle fire at Layton flats

Six fire engines were called to the flats on Talbot Road at 3.34pm.

No casualties were reported.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were called to a fire involving the roof of a five storey block of flats approximately 30m by 15m, on Talbot Road, Blackpool.

"A full evacuation of the property was undertaken by firefighters whilst the fire was being extinguished. The fire was located on the roof of the property and firefighters were using two hoses, the aerial ladder platform and some small tools.

"The fire has been brought under control but firefighters are continuing to damp down and ensure that the property is safe. No injuries have been reported and an investigation is underway.

Lancashire Police closed a section of Devonshire Road leading up to Talbot Road.
