Second homes bid for Fylde village

A developer has applied for a second time to build properties in a Fylde village – just weeks after its initial application was rejected.

Story Homes proposed to build 100 properties to the rear of Willow Drive in Wrea Green, but the scheme was rejected by 14 councillors at a Fylde Council planning meeting last month.

Now the developer has returned with another application to build 49 properties in the same location.

Wrea Green Coun Frank Andrews said the latest application would be “viewed with horror” by residents.

He added: “It (the application) is using much of the same site and is regarded as similar to the first one. We do not need another 49 homes.

“We think we are being vastly over-developed as it is. This application will be viewed with horror. It is ridiculous there is another application.

“Wrea Green is a victim of being a nice place to live.”

At last month’s meeting concerns were raised about the impact the homes would have on drainage, the size and suitability of the plan, and the capacity for Ribby-with-Wrea School to take on more pupils if the development was agreed.

The new application will be reviewed by the council in the coming weeks.
