Scrabble player takes words to the next level

It is called The Cockles of Your Heart, which is very appropriate for the Fylde area, and is in fact inspired by walks along the sea front at Lytham and St Annes.

She is a member of the U3A Scrabble Group and obviously used her wordsmith ability to become a creative writer.

The U3A environment does inspire people to grow and develop skills post retirement, and the members of the U3A are rightly very proud of her achievement.

Karen Henshaw, deputy Mayor of St Annes, came to the U3A meeting last month to congratulate Jo during her first book signing.

Karen said how delighted she was to come along and say a few words about Jo and her book to such a large gathering of active and involved retirees.

She was impressed by the number and variety of groups in the Lytham St Annes U3A, which obviously help the members enjoy retirement and encourage them to try out new activities no matter what age.
