Scouting Snapshots

Like many other Scout groups in Blackpool, on the Fylde coast, and up and down the country, the youngsters marked St George’s Day by 
either making shields, dressing up, decorating biscuits, and learning just a little bit more of the history of their patron saint, chosen by our founder Robert Baden Powell.

The youngsters aged between six and eight did a variety of tasks supported by the leaders, and had a great time.

Blackpool Scouts also took part in a St George’s Day 
Parade and renewal of promise at the Tower.From archery to cooking, Scouts take on team building tasks

More than 300 Fylde Scouts and their leaders took part in an afternoon of archery, team building games, cooking on fire, relay competitions and much more for St George’s Day.

The fun was followed by all members aged six to 18 
renewing promises, led by district leaders, in the sunshine during an outside ceremony.

The ceremony was led by district commissioner Derek Wright, and saw Rose Marshall receiving the highly prestigious Bar to the Silver Acorn award and Chris Campbell, and Dennis Harrison awarded the Silver Acorn.

Leaders were also awarded for their dedication to Scouting. John Swarsbrick for 30 years’ service, Sue Swarsbrick for 30 years, Graham Cardwell and Julie Ledger for 15 years.

Network, the oldest youth section for 18-25 year-olds, were all formally invested 
into the section in front of the younger sections and leaders alike.

Georgina Wright was presented with her Duke of Edinburgh Gold award pin.
