The preparations for the 2018 show are in full swing with the cast learning songs, dance routines and the producers planning how it will look on the stage at the Grand Theatre.

The show director, Darrell Shuck, said: “The cast deserve a break after all their hard work during this lovely weather.

“I was particularly proud of them performing at the Blackpool Scouts AGM showcasing their amazing talent.

“Blackpool Gang Show returns to the Grand Theatre after 27 years.

“It is an extravaganza of song, dance and comedy performed by Scouts and Guides from across Blackpool.

“It is a show for all the family to enjoy, a true variety show featuring items celebrating summertime, friendship and a spectacular number showcasing ‘magic’ songs.

“The war years are nostalgically remembered in song and dance with a touching tribute to Blackpool Scouts who went to serve their country and did not return.

“Add to all of these a glitzy number showing the journey from audition to Broadway, some comedy sketches and traditional Gang Show songs.

“You are in for a treat!

“Come and have the night of nights, Blackpool Gang Show and Blackpool lights.

“This is truly amazing and exciting time for all those involved and we hope you will come and watch the cast perform.”

Explorer Scouts float into their summer break in style

Explorer Scouts are up, up and away.

Blackpool Explorer Scouts visited their District Camp Site at Mowbreck near Wesham recently to view a hot air balloon.

Simon Hacking, Explorer Scout Leader, said: “We have a programme that runs from the start of the year to school summer holidays.

“We speak to our explorers for ideas and mix that in with the leaders’ choices.

“One of my leaders suggested hot air balloon teathering as they had connections to the North West hot air balloon and airship club.

“After nine weeks of blistering sunshine we ended with a Monday where it rained all day.

“We were really lucky that the weather turned for the better to allow for the basket and the balloon to be set up.

“What a sight to see. All while cooking on the barbecue.

“It was a fantastic night for our explorers and leaders with fun, food, sun and laughs.

“We always try to make the last programme night one to remember.

“Thanks to all my leaders James Seddon, Roger Brocklebank and Jennifer Barrow for all their time and efforts.”

* Explorer Scouts, a section of the Scout Association for 14- to 18-year-olds, was introduced in 2001 replacing Venture Scouts.

It is the fourth Section of the Scouting family.
