With sleeping bags, pyjamas, and onesies at the ready, Beaver Scouts from all over West Lancashire descended on Rossall School, Fleetwood.

The Roald Dahl sleepover ran over two nights attended by approximately 100 Beavers aged six to eight and 40 leaders.

Lyn Porter, a Blackpool Beaver leader, said: “We played Roald Dahl bingo, met the oompa loompas, some witches and the BFG who taught us to fly on broomsticks and had a very naughty school boy and a strict headmistress.

“We walked the grounds with Mr Fox and made magic potions with the witches.

“We decorated cakes and made some new lollipop designs for Mr Wonka with the oompa loompas.

“It was another fabulous sleepover and we are looking forward to the next one.”

Cubs earn limited edition woggles

Cub Scouts descended on West Lancashire County Camp Site, Waddecar, for a fantastic day out.

Nicola Bonsor, District Cub Leader, said: “71 Cubs Scouts from nine different packs in Blackpool attended the West Lancashire Cubs event 100 Tasks Day.

“The aim of the day was to join with Cub Scouts from all over the county to complete 100 tasks and earn yourself a limited edition Cubs 100 woggle.

“The event was one of a number of events that have taken place this year to help celebrate 100 years of Cub Scouting.

Birthday wishes for resort Scouts’ dedicated president

Blackpool District Scout Council wishes to offer its congratulations and very best wishes to our fantastic President of Blackpool District Scout Council, Coun Lilly Henderson,on her recent 90th birthday.

Lily, as she is very affectionately known by everyone in Blackpool Scouting, was made president in the early years of 2000, for her unstinting contribution to Scouting in Blackpool.

As President, Lily puts in countless unseen hours championing many causes in the Scout movement, from being an integral part of organising the St George’s Day Dinner and Dance at Blackpool Football Club for the last 10 years, which has raised over £20,000 in that time, to giving her personal support to many fund-raising activities .

Lily’s commitment to Scouting is outstanding, we all love her, and wish her the very best health, happiness and good fortune for years.

Cake stall raises funds for mini bus

A kind-hearted Blackpool Scout raised some much needed funds for her troop.

Management of The Co-op in Abingdon Street, Blackpool, kindly agreed to Hannah selling cakes in the store.

Hannah, who goes to Baines Endowed Junior School, Penrose Ave, Marton, attends 7th Blackpool Scouts which meet on a Monday evening.

With the support of her mum, Nicola, who is a member of staff, Hannah raise d £110.

All the members of staff had baked some scrumptious cakes to sell and money was raised from the very kind customers who visited the store on that day.

The money will go towards purchasing new equipment and maintaining the Scout mini bus.

The Scout group would like to thank the store.
