Two very excited youngsters are on an expedition of a lifetime.

Jasmin Dickinson, formerly of the 13/16th Scout Group and now attached to the 7th Blackpool Scouts, and Reuben Bond, from the 5th Blackpool Scouts, is part of the contingent from eight districts in West Lancashire Scouts who have travelled to Mongolia.

Phil Dickinson said: “Following the flight, they will attend the 31 st Asia Pacific Region Jamboree near Ulaan Baatar, where they will be joined by some 10,000 scouts from all over the world.

“This will be followed with horse trekking before they fly to Beijing to see the Great Wall of China.”

Ben and Tayler take on two top new youth roles

Blackpool District Scouts is delighted to announce Tayler Kippax and Ben Hughes as our two new Deputy District Youth Commissioners.

Ben said: ‘I’ve been involved in Scouting since I was a Beaver at the 37th Blackpool and carried on through Cubs, Scouts and onto becoming a young leader.

“I am delighted to be given this role, I look forward to being able to work with young people, adult volunteers and the rest of the team so we can all make scouting more youth shaped and allowing the younger generation to shape the future of scouting here in Blackpool.’

Tayler said: ‘My current roles are being an assistant leader with the 44th Blackpool Cubs, which I have been a part of for many years now and I enjoy what I do there.

“I am very pleased to be a part of this fantastic role bringing new ideas to the table and to show what Blackpool can do!”

Jordan Shuck, District Youth Commissioner, said: “We welcome the new additions and look forward to working with them.”

Beavers really bowled over

3rd Blackpool Beavers were bowled over by a trip to the bowling alley.

The youngsters and leaders had a brilliant and fun evening seeing how many “pins the Beavers could bowl over”.

The group took over many bowling lanes for some healthy competition.

It took some time to get the hang of the action, but once they did it was who could knock down the most skittle over the 10 games.

Refreshments followed with juice and chips and it was a great end to a fantastic Scouting season.

A spokesman for 3rd Blackpool Beavers said: “We had a brilliant night bowling.

“It was lots of fun and a great end to the year.

“Have a fantastic summer everyone, see you in September!”
