Salesman was twice limit when he crashed

A salesman was almost twice the alcohol limit when he crashed his car into another at Kirkham.

Andrew Fletcher told police who arrived at the accident scene “I did it, it’s my fault.”

Fletcher, 23, of Hawthorne Avenue, Newton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

Pam Smith, prosecuting, said police went to Dowbridge, Kirkham, where Fletcher’s Peugeot 206 had collided with a Ford Fusion on July 1 at 3.32am.

Fletcher was taken to hospital by police where a blood test showed 151 milligrams of alcohol in her body – 80 is the limit.

Fletcher was banned from the road for 18 months, fined £120 with £85 costs and ordered to pay a £150 court charge plus £20 victims’ surcharge by magistrates.
