“She was a comforting light for many people; many friends sought comfort from her and even adults.”

Danae’s mum, Karen, gave a tribute through Pastor Curwen’s wife, Wendy.

She said: “You’re beautiful, the most amazing personality, caring and so talented. You brought me so much joy and happiness.

“In fact, you were my rock.

“We stuck together through illness, sadness and hard times. You always cheered me up saying ‘don’t worry mum, tomorrow’s a better day.

“I will never forget the special time we had together. Thank you for being the best daughter, sister and my best friend.”

Tributes were also read out from Danae’s older brothers Jonathon and Bernard who honoured their “kind and beautiful” sister.

On behalf of Danae’s school, Mayfield Primary School in St Annes, Eileen Morris said: “We are so thankful to have spent time with Danae.

“It was a pleasure to know her. She was always smiling, cheerful and positive. She never complained when she was poorly and she was always so brave.”

Following the funeral, Danae’s life was celebrated at a service at Lytham St Annes Free Methodist Church, St Annes, where Mayfield and Sunday School friends shared photographs and memories.
