The Bispham Road office will close on February 27 meaning that people will have to go to Hawking Place off Faraday Way.

The move has been mooted last year with Royal Mail saying all 56 staff would be transferred to the £7m new centre which opened in 2015.

That centre replaced the office in Abingdon Street Blackpool and the office in Poulton.

The Royal Mail said there were no plans to close the St Annes and Fleetwood delivery offices.

A spokesman said: “As a commercial business, Royal Mail is responding to the huge growth in electronic communications and decline in letter volumes, while seeing a high volume of parcels and online shopping which need to be delivered to customers. There will be no impact on mail deliveries to customers, who will continue to be served by the same postmen and women.

“We can now leave many mail items with a neighbour if customers are not at home when we attempt delivery.

“Customers can also arrange a redelivery free of charge on a day that is convenient for them, or we can deliver the item to a different address.”
