Robbery victim suffers bleed on brain

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with a bleed on the brain following a robbery at a cash machine.

The incident happened around 1.30am on Tuesday July 14at an ATM between two takeaways and close to Funny Girls on Dickson Road, Blackpool.

The 65-year-old local man was withdrawing cash from the machine when he was approached by two men, one riding a bike.

The men are thought to have snatched the man’s money and bank card before punching the victim.

The punch caused the man to fall to the ground subsequently hitting his head on the pavement and knocking him unconscious.

The man was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital where he remains undergoing treatment for a bleed on the brain, but is in a stable condition.

DC Andy Gilmour of Blackpool CID said: “I would urge anyone with information about the incident to get in touch and help us with our enquiries. Anyone with information should contact us on 101 quoting log number 0064 of July 14.”
