From today the hard shoulder and lane one of the Blackpool-bound entry slip road at Junction One, for Broughton, will be closed.

The slip road will be closed entirely between 8pm and 6am, with a diversion in place, to allow for work to upgrade safety barriers and lighting along a section of the M55 near Broughton.

This work will be complete by Thursday, August 22.

Ongoing work at junction four of the M55, at Blackpool, continues between 8pm and 6am daily, but is due to be completed by Monday.

Lancashire County Council is carrying out improvement work at Broughton roundabout, at the road linking junction one of the M55 with the A6.

The work, to widen to junctions, add traffic controls and make the area safer for pedestrians and cyclists, is being carried out to reduce delays at one of the worst congestion spots into Preston.

This work is expected to be completed by December.
