Road reopened after 'serious' collision near Kirkham

A pedestrian has been hurt in an accident with a car which closed a main road this afternoon.

The A583 junction with Freckleton Street

The victim, believed to be a teenage girl, is understood to have suffered serious injuries on the A583 near Kirkham.

The incident was first reported at 2.30pm and affected traffic between Blackpool and Preston for more than an hour.

Police later reopened the road, but traffic still appears to be slow around the Freckleton Street/Freckleton Road junction.

The North West Air Ambulance attended, and the victim is believed to have bene taken to Royal Preston Hospital’s Major Trauma Centre with ‘serious injuries’.

No further details have been released.
