It means from June 3, travellers on Blackpool Transport will pay between £1.40 and £2.80 on the buses depending on the length of their journey, and between £1.80 and £2.80 on the trams.

Saver ticket prices will increase by an average of 4.9 per cent when purchasing via the Blackpool Transport mobile phone app.

They currently cost £5 for one day, going up to £55 for a monthly ticket.

The mobile app will also see the introduction of the option to purchase multiple 24 hour tickets at a reduced price for adults and young people.

Jane Cole, managing director at Blackpool Transport, said “Unfortunately due to an increase in costs we are having to change the price of our single fare and saver tickets.

“These increases have been kept to an absolute minimum and where we have been able to hold the price of fares, we have done so.

“All saver ticket prices on our Blackpool Transport app will remain cheaper than purchasing them elsewhere, making it the most convenient and cost effective way to travel around Blackpool and the Fylde Coast.”

The changes means the cost of a monthly ticket will be eqivalent to £1.75 per day.
