Resort road shut after collision

Emergency services were tonight at the scene of a road traffic collision which closed a busy main road into Blackpool both ways.

The alert over the incident on the A583 at Marton was raised at around 5:35pm.

The road near the windmill on Preston New Road was shut in both directions between Mythop Road and Clifton Road.

Lancs Road Police tweeted: “Please avoid Preston New Road near to the windmill, Blackpool.

“Road closed in both directions after a serious collision. Thanks for your patience.”

It is believed that one car was involved.
