Resort author's '˜golden' debut novel

It tells of an adventure between a young girl, Pixie, and her boxer dog, Bruno who, along with Pixie’s mum have just moved to a new life in Blackpool running The Sea View guest house.

Pixie, along with her two new friends find a locker key on the beach and their search for the owner takes them to many places which residents and visitors alike will readily identify with.

The whole book showcases the diversity of attractions and places of interest including the Tower, the Pleasure Beach, pier, airport and even the Town Hall. The Blackpool Gazette also gets a look-in.

Elaine said: “ Most of the goings-on in my book are based on true events which happened to me.”

The story flows and the descriptions are well written and imaginative as are the illustrations throughout by Michael Southorn.

The book is an ideal read for children of seven upwards, enabling them to identify with the characters and providing an escape from the seemingly compulsive on-line activities.

Elaine (nee Newton) has taught in primary schools throughout Britain and has always had an interest in children’s literature and although she now lives in the South Lakes this doesn’t prevent her from regularly visiting her old school friends in the town.

She added: “ It was important to me that the book was set in Blackpool as I grew up there and I wanted to share my childhood experiences.”
