Rehab for shop burglar

A man was found on a park bench surrounded by items he had stolen including a pair of antlers.

Daniel Watts, 39, of Fallowfield Road, St Annes, admitted the burglary at The Attik, in St Annes stealing antiques, two pictures and two bottles of wine valued at £500. He also admitted going equipped for theft with a screwdriver.

Prosecutor, Pam Smith, said police saw Watts and a woman in the YMCA park, St Annes on August 17, surrounded by bags.

Distinctive price tags from The Attik shop were on goods in the bags.

He was sentenced to a 12 months community order with up to 15 days probation and nine months drug rehabilitation.

Watts was also fined £10 with a £180 court charge and ordered to pay £250 compensation at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court.
