Fylde Council’s cabinet is to meet tomorrow to discuss the regeneration plans for St Annes, Kirkham and Lytham, which could see more than £500,000 invested.

The cash is being provided in part thanks to section 106 agreements, or plan in gain monies, payments to the council agreed when housing developments have started in the borough.

St Annes mayor Coun Ed Nash said the improvements would give a significant boost to the area.

He added: “The head of regeneration at Fylde Council, Paul Drinnan, has done a superb job and these plans will bring Park Road up to the same standard as Orchard Road and Garden Street.

“It is really the next stage of the process which first started 10 to 12 years ago.

“After the Park Road section is complete, we hope to have discussions with residents about the next stages of investment, whether it be St Andrews Road South or The Crescent.

“We are getting substantial amounts of money for each town with the overall plan to attract new business and making the place more attractive.”

A £130,000 project is planned for Lytham to enhance the link between the town’s historic Lytham Hall and the Green, while in Kirkham, the next phase of improvements to the town’s high street is expected to cost around £110,000, with the forecourts and footpaths being revamped.

Projects could start in the next six months.

In Kirkham Coun Keith Beckett said the proposed improvements would help to increase shoppers in the town.

He added: “These plans are all part of a rolling programme.

“Kirkham Coun Liz Oades has done a good job getting grants from Lancashire County Council to improve the high street and this money will help to improve the town again.

“It will make the area look much better and improvements to things such as footpaths are welcome for shoppers. It is a big boost for Kirkham.”

Fylde Council’s cabinet will meet from 6.15pm tomorrow at Fylde Town Hall in St Annes.
