Thirteen years ago, Dale Mordlock, 36, entered the former Pierpoint Centre in Clifton Drive North, St Annes, with a heroin addiction.

After receiving treatment, he worked hard to turn his life around – working in various jobs before becoming an addiction therapist for renowned healthcare clinic The Priory.

In an ambitious move, he left the company, setting up a 29-bed treatment centre in Bury, Greater Manchester.

The success of the venture led to him wanting to expand the business, and last week he launched Shardale Clinic in St Annes – formerly the Pierpoint building.

The 36-bed facility will offer around 120 programmes to treat alcohol and drug addiction.

He said: “It’s a great story really. I entered Pierpoint all those years ago and have been clean ever since.

“I’ve re-built my life really – I have a wife, Sandra, three great kids in Danielle, Antonia and Frankie, as well as two grandchildren.

“I started the business in Bury and it has been fantastic. We have had 80 fully treated programme completions in three years.

“I wanted to expand and when the building in St Annes became available and it was too good a chance to miss.”

Dale added: “Since we’ve come in we’ve already made major improvements to the site. When we are fully operational within the next few months I expect us to have around 50 to 60 staff in place.

“It is our aim to create the necessary conditions for all service users to recover from their dependency to a given substance. We aspire to facilitate positive, healthy recovery, along with all service users maintaining their individuality throughout their stay and beyond.”
