Coun Thomas, who has represented the Clifton ward since 2015, will be deputy to Singleton and Weeton councillor John Singleton, when he takes over the robes from current mayor Coun Christine Akeroyd in May.

“I was absolutely delighted when Coun Singleton asked me to be deputy mayor-elect of Fylde,” said Coun Thomas, who works as photographer from his own studio in Lytham.

“I consider it a great honour and I am very much looking forward to supporting our new mayor and mayoress, continuing the traditions associated with the role and especially getting to know more about the work of organisations and charity groups working in Fylde borough, as well as, of course, representing the people of Fylde at the Queen’s Garden Party.

Coun Thomas said the deputy mayoress-elect will be Poulton mum-of-two Vivien Ivell, who taught for 30 years at Rossall School and latterly was head of administration in the pre-preparatory department.
