Rain pours but Freckleton Club Day keeps marching on
With gala season in full swing the annual Freckleton Club Day took to the streets of the village '“ much to the delight of crowds and those taking part.
And while the weather took a turn for the worse towards the end of the procession on Saturday, spirits remained high on what was a great day for the village.
An array of festival and rose queens, along with their retinues, from three local churches took to the streets.
Among them was Freckleton Methodist Church Rose queen Imogen Parker and retiring Methodist church rose queen, Jessica Banks.
Patricia Knight, from the Freckleton Club Day, said: “It was a showery day but we walked the full route even though we got hit with rain for the last 20 minutes, but that’s the British weather for you!”
Patricia added: “The procession was beautiful, all the queens looked very pretty and the village was full of spectators and people out for the day.
An afternoon of children’s sports was planned but the rain saw this put to an end early on.
The remaining sport activities are being held tonight so that none of the children miss out.
More than 400 participants also took part in the annual Freckleton Half Marathon yesterday.
