Poulton and Wyre Railway Society now has a new shed at the Fleetwood end of the track, off Jameson Road, thanks to a Postcode Lottery grant of £2,000.

And fencing for a special compound for the shed was made available thanks to £500 from Fleetwood Town Council and £250 from Fleetwood resident, Derek Stirzaker.

There was even a £400 hand-out from Harrogate Flower Shower to ensure the compound looks blooming lovely.

The opening of the shed, close to part of the newly tidied up track, was officially opened by volunteers from both the Society and Fleetwood Back on Track, a group comprising town, borough and county councillors.

Coun Norah Stuchfield, a member of Back on Track, officially cut the ribbon and said: “I’m so proud of the work all these volunteers have done to clear these tracks of weeds.”
