Quarry cliff rescue drama

Specialist firefighters from St Annes were called into rescue a man from a cliff face.

He had become trapped at a former quarry site in Dawber Delph, Appley Bridge in West Lancashire in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At the request of police fire engines and crews from Chorley, Wigan, Penwortham, Preston and rope rescue specialist firefighters from St Annes responded.

Firefighters set up ropes and appropriate equipment to rescue the man, who was tended to by ambulance paramedics.

It is not clear how he came to be on the cliff face in the early hours.
