Staff at Lilliput Kiddie Care, on Boscombe Road, frequently take pupils to the Squires Gate Lane site to show them the aeroplanes, and one of its pupil’s mothers also works for Jet2.

Pupils and staff held up banners they had made and sang songs they had learnt in a protest outside the airport yesterday.

Tracey Butcher, from the pre-school, said: “We go down to the airport to show the children the planes, so they get a better understanding of the area they live in.

“We just want to get people behind it, and we’ve had a lot of support about what we’re doing.

“Even the children who don’t travel are affected by what’s going on with it.”
