A total of 170 properties have now been built by Hollinwood Homes on the site off Rigby Road.

Of those, 161 homes are now occupied.

Work is currently underway on the third phase of the £50m scheme to regenerate this part of the resort.

Phase three is seeing part of the land previously occupied by the Mecca nightclub redeveloped.

A mixture of 27 apartments and houses are currently under construction for private sale with 12 already occupied.

The scheme to transform what was an area of failed guesthouses and rundown buildings is being carried out in partnership with Blackpool Council.

Development began in 2014 and the site is expected to take 10 years to complete.

Phases one and two, which are a mixture of private sales and social housing, are now fully occupied.

The fourth phase will see builders move back to the west of the site around Blundell Street and Tyldesley Road.

Areas of public realm are also being created.

It is proposed to have an area of open space at the junction of Princess Street and Tyldesley Road.

Jane Byron, sales manager for Hollinwood Homes, said: “We are nearly half-way into the development.

“The site has really taken off and is looking very nice.

“A lot of people who were renting in Blackpool have bought properties here, but buyers are also coming from out of the area, for example from London.

“The development is attracting older people, some of whom have been cash buyers, as well as the younger generation, and we are getting a lot of word-of-mouth recommendations which is very good.”
