Applicant Gaynor Sedgwick said the project was still very much on the cards, but work would not start for some time yet because it would have to be done during the winter to minimise disruption. The proposal sets out a floodlit course immediately to the north of Central Pier designed on an ‘around the world’ theme.

The concept includes landmarks such as Niagara Falls and the Great Wall of China as well as a New York skyline and the Wonders of the World.

A kiosk is also included in the plans.

Planning permission was first granted in 2015, and following a resubmission of the application, it has been renewed by Blackpool Council using its delegated powers.A heritage statement accompanying the application says the attraction will be aimed at all age groups and will enhance the current leisure activities on the Promenade.

It will have a strong educational theme.

It adds: “ The themed features and structures allow for the facility to be an attractive development that people will use repeatedly.

“Adventure golf facilities that do not have appropriate themes underpinning the business often fail as a result.”

It also says the design “will complement and enhance the existing Central Pier and Promenade offers and seeks to establish and reinforce its place as a major visitor destination for Blackpool.”
