Management at The Blue Room, in Church Street, said the decision to close was ‘not an easy one’.

In a statement, the venue’s management said: “You may have noticed the pub has been closed for the past two weeks and unfortunately we will not be reopening.

“We have had a great time here and met many wonderful people. It has not been an easy decision on our part to close and we appreciate all the support we have received.

“At this point we do not know what will come of The Blue Room but we hope it will re-open soon.”

The Blue Room, opposite the Syndicate nightclub, is famed for the range of bands it hosted and for being the birthplace of Blackpool FC.

It last closed in 2013 after running into financial difficulties.
