After days of heated discussions between Lancashire council leaders and Government officials, it has been confirmed today that Lancashire will be moved from 'high alert', to the 'very high alert' Tier 3 level.

The new rules, which come into force from midnight on Saturday, October 17, 2020, will see many venues and businesses close, as well as enhanced restrictions around travel, and socialising both indoors and outdoors.

Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock said: “An unrelenting rise in cases in Lancashire means we must act now, and we have worked intensively with local leaders to agree on additional restrictions.

The Government has also confirmed that these latest measures will be reviewed every 14 days.
