Pub plan approved by Blackpool Council

Proposals to convert an empty shop into a micropub have been approved by Blackpool Council.

The scheme will see a unit on Church Street, near the junction with Liverpool Road, brought back into use.

Applicant Paul Higham said in his submission he wanted to create a “community bar which is not noisy” where people can “meet up and feel safe”.

Town hall planners, who approved the application using their delegated powers, said the investment “would bring a currently vacant property into beneficial use and patrons of the premises may support other shops and services in the immediate vicinity. ”

Their report added: “Socially, the scheme would make a positive contribution to the neighbourhood with the opportunity for social interaction.

“As such it would support the council’s regeneration objectives for the area.”
