Planners have granted permission to turn a Fleetwood pre-school into a residential children's home.

Wyre Council approved an application for the Skools Out childcare setting on Poulton Road, Fleetwood to be converted into a four-bed children's home.

The building is set to include four bedrooms for children, staff living quarters with a bedroom, office and bathroom, and an education and therapy room.

14 letters of objection were raised in response to the plans, outlining concerns about anti-social behaviour, lack of parking and the impact on house and car insurance to neighbours, documents showed.

But 23 letters of support were also lodged with the application, highlighting the "need for quality care homes of children" and the "creation of jobs."

A council spokesman said: "There would not be unacceptable noise or disturbance over the existing lawful use as a children's nursery.

"The matter of anti-social behaviour has been assessed, and there would not be an unacceptable impact [by four children supported by staff]."
