John-Paul Lovie, head of waste management at the council, said action was taken to remove graffiti and new plans to combat it were under consideration.

He said: “If somebody, a business or a resident, complains about graffiti we would react to that within a designated timeframe depending on the severity and offensiveness of it.

“We are drawing up a strategy and are aware it’s happening. I have noticed it myself and it’s something where we are going to be specifying how we approach and react to it in the future.”
