Fylde's local election hopefuls

A total of 107 candidates will stand in Fylde's 21 wards when the local elections take place on Thursday, May 2.

The Conservatives will field 50 hopefuls, Labour 25, with 25 independents also hoping for success, while the Greens have four candidates and the Liberal Democrats three.

Among those not standing for re-election are Conservative Tim Ashton, who has been on the council since 1991 and is also a county councillor, Independent Maxine Chew, whose service goes back to 2003, Liberal Democrat Tony Ford, a councillor since 2007, and Jan Barker, the council's only Labour member in the administration for the last four years and currently deputy mayor.
