Signs have been stencilled on pavements in popular dog walking spots across the borough, in a bid to clamp down on the increase in dog fouling.

The issue was no better or worse in particular areas, the council said, but dog walkers across the whole of Wyre have been ordered to "bag it and bin it" using any nearby litter bin.

A spokesman for Wyre Council said: "Sadly at this time of year with dark evenings and early mornings, we often see an increase in dog fouling.

"This is the case across the borough, so we’re taking action by increasing signage and floor stencilling on popular dog walking routes to remind owners to bring bags with them on their walk and to dispose of dog waste properly."

Fixed penalty notices can be imposed for anyone caught dog fouling, and residents can report incidents to the council here.
