Police search for missing man in Blackpool

Police are searching for a missing Blackpool man and have appealed for information.

John Ashton was due to stay at a bed and breakfast in Blackpool and had travelled to the resort by train.

The 44-year-old called a friend around 3.30pm to say he was on the beach, but could not confirm whereabouts.

Despite numerous attempts, friends and relatives have been unable to contact Mr Ashton since.

He is described as white, 5ft 9in tall, of medium build with short dark brown hair.

Police say he was wearing a light grey t-shirt with an image of the boxer Muhammad Ali on the front and dark jeans.

Mr Ashton was last seen at an address in Bank Gardens, Warrington, around 11am yesterday, July 20.

PC Indi Ganly-Boast, of Blackpool Police, said: “We are very concerned for Mr Ashton’s welfare and I urge anyone who may have seen him or knows where he is to get in touch.

“Similarly, if John himself sees this appeal, I would urge him to contact us or a family member.”
